Program Overview
This course introduces students to the principles of the science of Qirāʾāt (Qur’anic recitations): its definition, origin, and historical development; the meaning of the Seven Aḥruf (modes of revelation); the types of recitations; and the theoretical (dirāyah) issues connected with this science. It also introduces the Ten Reciters and their transmitters.
Main Objective
To enable the student to recite the Noble Qur’an accurately according to the rulings established by the scholars of Tajwīd, through study of the theoretical issues connected with this science.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Knowledge & Understanding
• Explain the foundational principles of the science of Tajwīd and its essential terminology.
• State the articulation points (makhārij) of the letters and their essential and incidental attributes (ṣifāt).
• Explain the most important rulings of stopping (waqf) and beginning (ibtidāʾ) in terms of position and manner.
Skills
• Distinguish between the letters by their articulation points and their essential and incidental attributes.
• Apply elongation (madd), nasalisation (ghunnah), and the manifestation and concealment of letters in practice.
Values, Autonomy & Responsibility
• Recite the Qur’an with due observance of the rulings, the proper manners, and caution against hidden and apparent error.

Duration: 3 months
Mode: Online / Hybrid (live classes with guided recitation)
Date and time: Saturday and Sunday 330pm- 5.00pm makkah time
Fees: 300 SAR
Method: Teacher-led instruction, supervised recitation, and assessments
Language: Instruction primarily in English.
