Programme Overview
IRTIQAA is a 12-week professional development programme designed for aspiring and current Qur’an teachers who want to grow not only in what they teach, but also in how they teach and who they are as teachers.
Teaching the Book of Allah is a responsibility that requires more than sound recitation and knowledge of Tajweed. A Qur’an teacher needs knowledge, character, effective teaching skills, patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to understand and guide different learners.
IRTIQAA brings these areas together through a structured teacher-development journey rooted in the Qur’an, Sunnah, classical Islamic scholarship, and relevant educational practices.
The programme focuses on developing teachers who are spiritually grounded, technically competent, educationally effective, and professionally reflective.
What Will You Learn?
Throughout the 12 weeks, participants will explore four key areas of Qur’an teacher development:
1. The Identity & Character of a Qur’an Teacher
Understand the honour, responsibility and amanah of teaching the Qur’an. Participants will explore sincerity, intention, adab, character, professionalism, and the qualities expected from those who carry and teach the Book of Allah.
2. Understanding How Students Learn
Learn how to move beyond simply delivering information and begin teaching according to the needs of the learner.
Participants will explore learner differences, lesson planning, effective teaching strategies, student engagement, and practical ways of making Qur’an lessons purposeful and structured.
3. Preserving Accuracy in Qur’an Teaching
Develop greater awareness of Tajweed and recitation errors and learn how to identify and correct them effectively.
Special attention will be given to effective Taṣwīb (correction)—helping students improve their recitation without discouraging, overwhelming, or creating unnecessary dependence on the teacher.
Participants will also revisit essential areas related to makhārij and ṣifāt from a teacher's perspective.
4. Student Management & Emotional Intelligence
Teaching Qur’an means working with people, and every learner comes with a different personality, ability, motivation and emotional experience.
Participants will learn about patience, empathy, communication, motivation, emotional intelligence, managing different learners, handling challenging situations, giving constructive feedback, and communicating appropriately with parents.
The programme will also explore examples from the Prophetic approach alongside relevant contemporary concepts of emotional intelligence.
Practical Teacher Development
IRTIQAA is not designed as a lecture-only programme.
Participants will engage in practical teacher-development activities throughout the course, including:
Reflective exercises
Lesson-planning activities
Case discussions
Role plays
Error identification and correction practice
Student-management scenarios
Teaching practice and feedback
Self-evaluation and reflection
The aim is to help participants translate knowledge into actual teaching practice.

Programme Duration
12 Weeks
The programme combines structured learning with practical application, reflection and teacher-development exercises.
Certification
Participants who successfully fulfil the programme requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion from Azharul Jannah.
Certification will be subject to the required attendance, participation and successful completion of the programme's assessments and practical requirements.
